Repeat the Cycle

You have now completed all of the normal day-to-day operating procedures and you should have a good feel for how Derek works.  You should especially know "how" and "where" to make day-to-day entries.

After you finish practicing with the Sample Data, do NOT DESTROY THE SAMPLE DATA.  When you have a question about how Derek handles certain situations, use the Sample Data and experiment, or give us a call.

REPEAT THE TUTORIAL - USING ALL OPTIONS

This tutorial session should be repeated two more times.  The second time through, play with all the options you noticed along the way.  Also, go through every program such as the Payroll Programs, Tools program, and Bank.  All other programs operate just like the ones used in this exercise and as a result you shouldn't have any trouble operating all other programs.

You may also try to put some of your own wells and investors in the system (not too many though - so you can carefully trace and understand).  If everything comes out okay, you are ready to proceed. Begin setting up your own data directory, assigning your G/L numbers, and begin inputting your own data.

If you still have questions, get all of your questions together and give us a call to clear up anything you don't understand.  Do not set up your own data files until you fully understand how to enter Expenses, Revenue and Payments.  Do not use the sample data directory (DEREK\DEDATA\) as YOUR data directory!

KEEP THE SAMPLE DATA ON YOUR COMPUTER AND IN THE C:\DEREK\DEDATA DIRECTORY:

If you ever have a question about what Derek will or will not do, you can change to the C:\DEREK\DEDATA directory and experiment with the Sample Data.
